Cycling routes from De Boshoek

The great thing about cycling on the Veluwe is the great diversity. You'll explore the majestic nature and will notice every detail when you pedal through the forests, past heathlands and marshes.

Whether you go on short or long bike rides, close to or far from home, alone, as a pair, with children or with a group: cycling provides a sense of freedom and relaxation. Experience the landscape with all your senses. And explore the beautiful surroundings on your own strenght and at your own pace.

To provide even more 'wow' moments, there are the special stop moments. Your cycling route would not be complete without those moments. We are happy to list five of them for you, in the area of De Boshoek.

HET HERT MILL

The national monument reminds you of the time when the wheat fields were the dominant feature of the Puttereng. The name refers to the municipal coat of arms on the mill, in which a deer appears. The mill is still used to grind grain such as barley, maize and wheat for consumption and animal feed.

HOTEL DE BOSHOEK

An pleasant resting place to recover from an active bike ride with a good cup of coffee and something delicious. Another great tip: complete the visit to the four-star hotel with a comfortable night in one of the rooms and start the next day with a hearty breakfast, before completing the cycle route.

LANDGOED DE SALENTEIN

Originally, a farmer's homestead "Groot Vaneveld" dating from the 16th century stood on this site. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the estate was owned by the Van Westerveld family. They expanded the farm and beautified it. This laid the foundation for the country estate called Salentein. The building is recognized as a national monument because of its age, architecture and characteristic location. The yard and the park, two bridges, a coach house with shed, a threshing mill, a double staff residence, a burial vault and a garden wall with shed have been recognized as national monuments as well.

DE VANENBURG CASTLE

De Vanenburg Castle is a beautiful gem.
The perfect base camp for space and tranquility, but also style and class. These days, the castle serves as a hotel, restaurant, conference and wedding venue and is located on a 17th-century estate, centrally located in the heart of the Netherlands.

WILBRINKBOS

Old trees and gnarly tree stumps provide a special atmosphere you can feel in the Wilbrinkbos. Locally, the forest is known as "Het Heuveltjesbos" because of the characteristic sand hills. The trail on this sand embankment is deeply worn by the many hikers and mountain bikers who appreciate this hilly landscape. Due to the intensive use, many tree roots are above ground, which produces beautiful photo opportunities.
